Moore Commissioners follow through with tax rate cut.

Picerno targets tax rate cut to 0.4575 / 100

  • Down from '22 rate of about 0.63 /100

  • Commissioners goal: mitigate spike in property valuations

The Moore County Board of Commissioners, led by chairman Nick Picerno, is following through on its pledge to mitigate rising home property valuations by lowering tax rates.

Picerno sees it as a simple “math problem”.

The board approved an adjusted rate of 0.4575 per 100 from 0.63 the effect of which will find most homeowners seeing an unchanged property tax bill despite higher home valuations. This is the outcome of electing a conservative majority to the board.
