Board of Commissioners resolve to voice support of "right to life":
On a 3-2 vote, the Moore County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution enshrining a statement that it stands in defense of the life of unborn infants. Commissioners Frank Quis and John Ritter, registered Republicans, decline to join the majority, expressing opinions that abortion is not an issue within the purview of the Commissioners.
The Commissioners' action prompted a wave of comments posted at ThePilot.com, almost entirely expressing various degrees of outrage that the body is taking a position on a controversial issue.
"You have made your personal opinions on right-wing issues well known," wrote Tim Russell of Cameron in a letter published by The Pilot. "But as a representative of the county, you are supposed to represent the county and not advance your own personal agenda."
